Michael A. Motto

Partner

Michael A. Motto exclusively practices the civil litigation of cases involving car crashes, slip and falls, motorcycle crashes, wrongful death, and products liability.  He is also well-versed in handling “bad faith” cases against insurance companies, obtaining millions of dollars in settlements due to the insurance carriers mishandling of cases.

Mr. Motto builds each case methodically, believing the case is won in discovery.  He is known for his strength in depositions, aggressive courtroom style, medical knowledge, and skills at both questioning witnesses and reading juries.  Mr. Motto is adept at helping those in the courtroom understand what transpires while intuiting when to back off and allow time for consideration and contemplation of evidence and testimony.

CLIENT RESULTS:

Mr. Motto’s strong need to provide his clients the very best representation means he is ready to fight for them in a courtroom setting when other litigators may prefer to negotiate settlements.  He is known to take difficult cases to trial and still obtain favorable results for his clients.  For example, Mr. Motto secured his client a personal injury judgment for $167,000 after the insurance company offered only $100 to settle the case out of court.

Another notable success was his representation of a gentleman who suffered multiple injuries due to a car crash.  The at-fault party only maintained a Fifty Thousand ($50,000) Dollar policy limit, but due to the insurance carrier’s mishandling of the claim, Mr. Motto was able to secure $1,050,000 settlement for the gentleman.

Mr. Motto possesses a unique understanding of “bad faith” matters in which he negotiates with insurance companies to pay damages to his clients in excess of their policy limits.  Again, these cases appeal to his strong sense of justice and belief that insurance companies have an obligation to act fairly, noting that, “Unfortunately, they often view an injured person without due regard, failing to implement standards for the proper investigation and handling of claims.”  Mr. Motto has been particularly successful in bad faith cases against various unreasonable insurance companies.
